Dr. Chang has done research in dispersion minimization of single mode optical fibers by canceling material and waveguide dispersions, experimental demonstration of dichroic duplex transmission through a single optical fiber, characterization of a fiber optic delay line devices for radio frequency signal processing, development of a radar moving target indicator using fiber optic delay lines, and optoelectronic time division multiplexing and demultiplexing . His experience also includes work on coherence, light fluctuations, photon statistics, and holograms. He is currently conducting research in PV-FETs, PV-PINs, and Photo-injection Back-to-back PIN Switches for RF/ microwave switching as well as in optoelectronic sample and hold circuits.
At San Diego State University he initiated graduate and undergraduate courses in optical fiber communications as well as electronic materials and devices. He has taught electronic circuits, electromagnetic fields, electronic materials and devices, microwave engineering, solid state electronic devices, and optical fiber communications.
