Gordon Lee was born and raised in Hawaii and received his BSEE degree from the University of Hawaii in 1972. His graduate work was conducted at the University of Connecticut where he received his MSEE degree in 1974 and Ph.D. degree in 1978. Dr. Lee then worked at Colorado State University in the Department of Electrical Engineering and rose to the level of Full Professor. He was also Director of the Institute for Robotics Studies. In 1989, Dr. Lee joined North Carolina State University as a Research Full Professor in the Mars Mission Research Center. He then joined the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering as a Full Professor and was the Director of Graduate Programs. In 1996, he became the Assistant Dean for Research Programs in the College of Engineering. Since December 2000, Dr. Gordon Lee has been at San Diego State University where he is currently the Associate Dean and Director of the Joint Doctoral Program in the College of Engineering. His research interests are in real-time controls and robotics. Dr. Lee continues to work in several areas including fuzzy control and neural networks for process control, navigation and control of mobile robotic vehicles, and intelligent control of nonlinear and distributed systems such as computational fabrics. Dr. Lee has published over 150 technical papers, is a senior member of IEEE, a senior member of AIAA, and a member of ISCA. He was the major advisor of 15 Ph.D. students and 26 MS students.
