The strategic vision of our department is to provide education characterized by quality, access, and relevance. Students take a balance set of courses to obtain a solid foundation in engineering and general education. Students participate in technical presentations to acquire and sharpen their oral and written communication skills. They are encouraged to explore foreign cultures and education through study abroad programs. Many of our students take advantage of internship opportunities available in the San Diego region.
The department has witnessed a significant increase in research productivity of its faculty in the recent years, in terms of number of sponsored research projects, amount of research grants, publications, and participation in professional societies. The department faculty is carrying out many research projects sponsored by both the government agencies and industry. Many of our students get opportunities to work on these cutting-edge research projects and publish their results in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
The department has developed a new Master of Science Degree Program in Computer Engineering which will officially launch in the Fall of 2022. The department has also developed three online programs jointly with the SDSU Global Campus, including MS EE (Fall 2021), MS CompE (Fall 2022), and BS CompE (Fall 2022). These online degree programs offer students and working professionals with the opportunity to receive a degree via online and remote learning. Please browse the website for admission procedures, graduation requirements, and other related information.
Through funding from the U.S. Government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation, SDSU offers students an exciting educational opportunity to receive U.S. degree in Tbilisi, Georgia. Students are able to earn a professionally accredited, internationally recognized U.S. bachelor’s degree in the heart of the Caucasus. San Diego State University (SDSU), along with three top Georgian universities, Tbilisi State University (TSU), Ilia State University (ISU), and Georgian Technical University (GTU) offers courses leading to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) internationally accredited bachelor’s degrees.
