Robert Clay
Biography
Robert Clay is an Engineering Director and Hybrid Cloud Architect with extensive experience in enterprise IT infrastructure, data centers, and large-scale network systems. He currently serves as Director of Technical Services for the Grossmont Union High School District, where he leads the design and operation of mission-critical infrastructure supporting more than 18,000 students and staff. His work focuses on hybrid cloud architecture, data center modernization, cybersecurity, and the integration of generative AI and large language models to improve IT operations and automation. Robert is an active member of IEEE and an advocate for applying emerging technologies to practical engineering and operational challenges. Over his career, he has held technology leadership roles at the University of California San Diego, National University, San Diego State University, and General Dynamics, contributing to major infrastructure initiatives and advanced engineering programs. He holds a BSEE from San Diego State University and an MS in Software Engineering from National University.
